Manny Pacquiao finally achieved sweet revenge for the controversial match that ended his dominance in the boxing world. The Filipino boxer went the distance to beat U.S. boxer Tim Bradley in 12 rounds April 13 for a unanimous decision for the WBO welterweight title.
The win avenged Pacquiao’s loss to Bradley two years ago, when judges awarded Bradley the victory, despite the American boxer landing less punches than Pacquiao.
Most viewers thought Pacquiao easily won that fight. Instead, Pacquiao took his first loss in 15 matches and went on to get knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez in his following fight that year.
This time all three ringside judges made no mistake in picking the right winner. Although Pacquiao appeared to have lost most of the punching power that made him the most famous knockout artist of the last decade, he still showed far more speed and accuracy with his punches than Bradley.
Bradley didn’t appear hurt by any of Pacquiao’s punches but he still took nearly 200 power punches, 50 more than he was able to land back at Manny.
The win advanced Pacquiao’s career record to 56-5-2, while Bradley suffered the first loss of his now-31-1career.
