The student-created storyboard for the Voices and Votes documentary
Marches. Rallies. Protests. Letter-writing campaigns. Petitions.
For the past several years, it appears that civic engagement has been on the rise. Perhaps the strongest evidence of that is that a record-breaking 155 million Americans voted in the November 2020 presidential election.
The nation’s youth have been at the forefront of this wave of civic engagement, so who better than students to develop a documentary on the topic. More than a dozen Pikesville High School students are doing just that – creating a documentary to be shown when the Smithsonian’s “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America” traveling exhibition is displayed in Baltimore County in December 2021.
A new BCPS blog post explores the creation of the documentary and how other BCPS students will work on projects related to the exhibit.
