WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say a man has died after being shot in southwest Washington.
The Metropolitan Police department says the shooting occurred early Tuesday morning in the 200 block of Elmira Street SW.
The man was shot in the chest, ribs and upper arm area. Police say he was conscious when being transported to a local hospital, but he later died. Officials identified him as 28-year-old Ryan Matthew Addison of Washington.
Police spokesman Sean Hickman says the shooting is being investigated as a homicide, but no suspect was named early Tuesday morning.
The slaying marks the 90th homicide this year in Washington. Last year, the District had 71 homicides.
