Music mogul, actress and Grammy award-winning singer Mariah Carey announced on Oct. 7 that music producer Jermaine Dupri will be her new manager, according to Cindi Berger, her spokesperson.

The two recording industry giants are longtime friends and have collaborated several times including on Carey hits “Always Be My Baby,” “ Shake It Off,” “We Belong Together” and “The Emancipation of Mimi.”

“A multi-talented artist of Mariah’s caliber should be doing everything imaginable. I’m sure others have said this but not the way I intend to do it. For me, it’s about the execution,” says Dupri said in a statement.

Berger said in a statement to the AFRO, the collaboration “takes their business relationship to a new level.”

Since her departure from the TV show “American Idol,” Carey has been focusing on her music and is planning to launch a world tour that is expected to begin late October in Asia.

“We have a bond that surpasses music. I am super excited about our merger because we have so many innovative ideas that I know will come to fruition,” Carey said in a statement from Berger.

Berger, who was in the studio with her the other night, said, “I’ve never seen Mariah so passionate about what she will be revealing to her fans very, very soon.”
