Ralph Bernard Thomas Jr., aka “BJ” and also known to many as “Sleepie,” the son of Ralph Bernard Thomas Sr. and Rosetta Dolorse Thomas, died Feb. 13. Ralph was born Dec. 7, 1982, at Prince George’s Hospital. He graduated from Suitland High School and began in the workforce, finally settling in a career with C&C Meat Factory.

Ralph was a wonderful father to JaLiyiah and JaLeil. If ever there was a father who adored his children it was him. He truly enjoyed taking them to spend time with family and friends every chance he got. Ralph was very protective of his children, especially his precious little girl. He loved to show his affection by roughhousing with them. JaLiyiah and JaLeil meant the world to Ralph. From the day they came home from the hospital to their first diaper change and their first steps, Ralph never missed a beat. Whether it was running errands or hanging out with friends, they never left his side.

Ralph was loved by all who knew him. He had a gentle and quiet spirit, but was still a lot of fun and a joy to be around at the same time. Ralph played defensive lineback for the Pee Wee League as well as recreational football for Peppermill Village Community Center. He cherished his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. Every time the opportunity presented itself, he loved to debate with any and everyone who was a rival of the ‘Skins. His favorite pastime was playing basketball and video games with his nephews Tre’, Juwan and Zion. Ralpha also enjoyed boxing, camping, fishing, music, spending time with family and cooking out with family and friends.
