Hello you all. I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend. Mine was great! I was covering the Tony Williams Jazz Scholarship Festival in Philadelphia at the Embassy Hotel Suite. The jazz festival was out-0-site! I MEAN IT WAS AWESOME! You got to go with me next year. Not enough space to give you all the details. But let me say this; Tony Williams took the roof off the sucker playing his sax as if he was making love to it; and Bill Cosby, made me laugh until my stomach hurt.

This weekend in Baltimore, the Nathan Carter School of music presents “A Festival of Songs” featuring the Community Concert Choir of Baltimore with Dr. Marco K. Merrick as the Founding Director featuring Dije’ Coxson, Soprano, Rev. Michael Miller, Baritone and the Nathan Carter Memorial Scholarships. It will be held at the New Shiloh Baptist Church, 2100 N. Monroe Street on Sunday, September 11 at 6 p.m.

The Poets Athletic Club will have their Annual Deluxe Oyster & Bull Roast 4-8 p.m. Sept. 10, giving you four hours of food and draft beer. The menu includes: beef, fresh ham, smoked ham, oysters, oysters stew, buffalo wings, barbecued pork ribs, shrimp creole over rice, hot dogs and baked beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, string beans, potato salad, etc. Check it out, call Beasley at 410-916-2605.
