The Baltimore Ravens suffered a second straight loss to start the season, falling in a 37-33 thriller to the Oakland Raiders on Sept. 20 in Oakland, Calif.

The loss marks the first time Baltimore has lost the first two games of a season under head coach John Harbaugh.

Veteran receiver Steve Smith had a big game, hauling in 10 catches for 150 yards. But he failed to keep his feet in bounds on a touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Flacco with only two minutes left in the fourth quarter. As a result, the Ravens were forced to settle for a short field goal from Justin Tucker to go ahead 33-30.

Oakland then had two minutes and a timeout to drive the field, with quarterback Derek Carr delivering a game-winning touchdown pass. The second-year signal caller had tossed an untimely interception earlier in the fourth quarter that led to the Ravens taking the lead. But Carr redeemed himself in the final minutes with the second game-winning drive of his career.

Carr finished with 356 passing yards and three touchdowns, including a 68-yard bomb in the first quarter. Two of his receivers recorded more than 100 receiving yards; veteran Michael Crabtree had nine catches for 111 yards and a touchdown and rookie Amari Cooper had seven catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Flacco was stellar for most of the game, racking up a game-high 384 passing yards and two touchdowns. Ravens tight end Crockett Gilmore caught both of Flacco’s touchdown passes and finished with 88 receiving yards on five catches. Receiver Kamar Aiken also caught five passes for 89 yards.

Ravens running back Justin Forsett ran for 68 yards on 15 carries and L. Taliaferro added 37 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Next: Baltimore (0-2) will play its first home game of the season on Sept. 26, an AFC North division matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals (2-0). Kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
