Mary J. Blige, the golden-haired vocalist known for her hits “No More Drama” and “Real Love,” recently announced her decision to earn a bachelor’s degree at famed historically Black university Howard University.

Blige, 39, dropped out of high school in 11th grade and has spoken publicly about a number of personal issues, including drug abuse, illiteracy and domestic abuse. The nine-time Grammy winner announced her latest plans during a performance on “Good Morning America.”

While she pursues a college degree, Blige is also preparing to release a new fragrance, My Life, and a line of eyewear, Melodies, according to her Web site.
