Comptroller Franchot to Keynote New Directions Breakfast; Issue Proclamations to Local Businesses

WHAT:          Comptroller Franchot will deliver the keynote address Friday at the Maryland New Directions Appreciation Breakfast in Baltimore. New Directions, founded in 1973, is a grassroots organization that provides career counseling, employment assistance and post-employment support to residents who are in life and career transition. The Comptroller will talk about the need for greater emphasis on financial literacy programs, a strong commitment to improving workforce development, and continued support for community organizations.

The Comptroller will then visit two businesses in Owings Mills. At Advanced Video Systems, a multimedia services company that was founded in 1983, the Comptroller will meet with the business owners and present them with a proclamation. He will then visit Douron Inc., a commercial furniture dealer that has been in business for more than 45 years. He will meet with company leaders and present them with a proclamation.
