Comptroller Franchot to Attend Groundbreaking at Bowie State and Arbutus Business Group Lunch

WHAT:          Comptroller Franchot will join Maryland Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford and Bowie State University President Mickey L. Burnim and other local leaders, faculty and students in a groundbreaking ceremony this morning for the university’s new $104 million Center for Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Nursing building. Slated to open in 2017, the center will provide flexible classrooms and state-of-the-art research and instructional laboratories to foster collaboration across academic programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing teaching in the sciences and cutting-edge research.

Comptroller Franchot then will join business, elected and community leaders at the Arbutus Knights of the Roundtable for a discussion on the local business climates in Arbutus, Baltimore City and Baltimore County as they relate to the state’s economy. There will be a general discussion followed by questions and answers.
