Comptroller Franchot to Honor WDS Award Winner in Anne Arundel County

WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present the 2015 William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award to Jerome “Jerry” Klasmeier of Crownsville for his longtime service to the community. Mr. Klasmeier’s public service career spans five decades. He was Assistant Comptroller and Board of Public Works liaison to Comptrollers Franchot and William Donald Schaefer, and served as chief administrative officer for Anne Arundel County. Mr. Klasmeier also was a longtime Deputy Secretary of the Department of General Services, where he developed state procurement processes.
Mr. Klasmeier, who earned a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University and served in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer, also has served on the Anne Arundel Community College Board of Trustees, both as vice chairman and a member. His civic and community work includes serving as a member of the Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation, the Providence Center board of directors and the advisory board to the adjutant general of the Maryland National Guard Military Youth Corps Challenge Program.
