Comptroller Franchot to Present Proclamation to Maryland Hunger Solutions
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present a proclamation this morning to Maryland Hunger Solutions (MHS) at its Baltimore headquarters to recognize the organization’s efforts to provide food to low-income students and children during the summer months when school is not in session. Director Michael J. Wilson, who has served as an advocate for the wellbeing of low-income families and a core advisor in the Governor’s Partnership to End Childhood Hunger, will accept the honor on behalf of MHS.
The Food Research and Action Center established MHS in 2007 as a project to fight hunger and to improve the nutrition, health and wellbeing of children and families in Maryland. The Maryland program is modeled after the successful D.C. Hunger Solutions that began in 2002.
