Comptroller Franchot to Present Queen Anne’s County Silver Hammer Award on Thursday
Grasonville Elementary School staff to be recognized for exceptional maintenance
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present the 2016 Silver Hammer Award for Queen Anne’s County to Grasonville Elementary School this afternoon. The school was nominated because it earned a 95 percent rating on its last state inspection. State inspectors noted the school “is nicely maintained and shows this staff has pride in school.” The current building was constructed in 1995 to replace the original Grasonville Elementary building.
The Silver Hammer Award was established in 2010 in recognition of schools that demonstrate sound fiscal management and commitment to well-maintained buildings. Comptroller Franchot visits schools throughout the state as part of his role as a member of the Board of Public Works, which approves public school construction funding.
