Comptroller Franchot to Tour Kingsville School and Neonatal Unit at Baltimore Hospital
-Comptroller to See Classrooms Without Air-Conditioning at Elementary School-
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will tour Kingsville Elementary School with Principal Carol Ferris, Parent-Teacher Association President Angela Feehly and parent Alicia Prisco to see several classrooms where there is a lack of air-conditioning. Earlier this fall, the Comptroller conducted town hall meetings as part of his โCool Classroomsโ initiative in Arbutus and Dundalk to give parents and citizens an opportunity to voice their concerns about the lack of air-conditioning in some Baltimore County Public Schools.
In his role as a member of the Board of Public Works, the Comptroller then will tour the current and new Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore. The improved NICU, which is under construction, will provide 22 private rooms with greater infection control and reduced noise levels for critically-ill infants and more comfortable accommodations for their parents. A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for January. Franklin Square has received more than $2.8 million in Maryland Consolidated Capital Bond Loans since 2002.
