Comptroller to Honor Bowie Police, Speak to Business Leaders and Violetville School Students
– Franchot to Emphasize Importance of Financial Literacy to 8th Grade Class –

WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present a proclamation today to the Bowie Police Department for its ongoing mission to protect and serve the Bowie community.
In the afternoon, the Comptroller will speak to the 2015 Executive Class of Leadership Anne Arundel at its final gathering for the year. The class includes local business leaders who have spent the year discussing ways to drive the economy. Mr. Franchot will discuss his role as Comptroller and as a member of the Board of Public Works, as well as the role his office plays in the community and the services offered to the business community.
The Comptroller then will travel to Baltimore to speak at the 8th grade closing ceremony at Violetville Elementary/Middle School, which participates in the Stocks in the Future Program. The program helps students to learn fundamental concepts of financial literacy and investment. Mr. Franchot will talk to the students about continuing to be financially literate as they head to high school and the role they can play as the state’s future business leaders.
