Comptroller to Speak to Prince George’s Co. Chamber;Shop MD for the Holidays in Annapolis

WHAT:           Comptroller Franchot will be the guest speaker at a luncheon meeting today of the Center for Leadership Enterprise and Development (LEAD) of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce. LEAD is a select group of chamber members dedicated to designing and proposing innovative solutions for economic development. The Comptroller will focus on the role small businesses play in making towns and cities throughout the state vibrant communities of commerce and creating jobs for local people.

Comptroller Franchot will return to Annapolis for an afternoon stroll of the city’s Main Street shops as part of his final stop on the statewide Shop Maryland for the Holidays tour. The Comptroller will begin his walk at Irish Traditions, owned by Margaret Barry McLemore, which specializes in imported Irish and Scottish goods. He will visit Kokopelli, a clothing and accessories boutique, owned by Shannon Barron. The Comptroller will continue on to Seasons Olive Oil & Vinegar, a shop specializing in fresh olive oils and balsamic vinegars, and on to Back Creek Books, which buys and sells quality used and out-of-print books on history. The tour will end at Ron George Jewelers, known for its quality service.
