Franchot to Discuss Tax Fraud and Protecting Taxpayers’ Identities

WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will speak at Union Baptist Church on the benefits of his proposed Taxpayer Protection Act legislation introduced this session to better protect Maryland taxpayers against tax fraud and identify theft. Attendees to the church’s tax preparation site following Sunday service will hear about the agency’s efforts to protect taxpayers from unscrupulous tax preparers. The church’s free tax preparation site is in its second year of operation and served 825 taxpayers last year.
