Comptroller to Visit River Gallery; Present Proclamations to Restaurant and Auto Body Shop

– Comptroller to Celebrate Southern Anne Arundel County’s Amenities –

WHO:             Comptroller Peter Franchot

Local and state officials

WHAT:          Comptroller Peter Franchot will visit River Gallery, a Galestown establishment that has been around for 27 years. The gallery began as an informal group of artists living in the West River area. Since 1987, the artists have represented themselves through the gallery, which is jointly owned by Roxanne Weidele, Elsie Whitman and Laura Dixon.

While in Galesville, the Comptroller then will head over to the Inn at Pirates Cove to present a proclamation to owners Bob and Theano Platt for the restaurant’s long-time commitment to the community and its fine seafood. The restaurant was established in 1960 and the Platts became owners in 1984. On Wednesday evenings diners can enjoy the West River sailboat races and on Friday and Saturday nights, there is live entertainment.

The Comptroller will end his trip to Southern Anne Arundel County with a stop at JT Restorations in Deale to present a proclamation to owner Joe Tucker. The business started in 1984 when Mr. Tucker was 22. This once small business has grown into a full-line, state-of-the-art auto-body center for certified repairs and offering 24-hour towing service that allows customers to call from an accident scene.
