Franchot to Speak at Financial Education Meeting in Hanover; Visit Riverdale Catering Company

-Comptroller to Discuss Financial Literacy Requirement and Role of Small Business-

WHO:             Comptroller Peter Franchot

WHAT:           Comptroller Franchot will speak on the importance of financial literacy at the Financial Education and Capability Commission’s final meeting of 2015 this morning at the Maryland Department of Transportation offices in Hanover. The commission was created by legislation in 2012 and is required to submit an annual report to the Governor and General Assembly on its recommendations and the status of efforts by state agencies.

The Comptroller later will visit Geppetto Catering in Riverdale to present a proclamation to owner Josh Carin for his business’ success. The visit also is part of the Comptroller’s annualShop Maryland for the Holidays tour to encourage Marylanders to spend their holiday dollars locally. Geppetto Catering has provided business catering services to most of the corporations in the greater Washington region since 1989.
