Franchot to Visit Burtonsville on Tuesday

Comptroller to Present Proclamations to Local Restaurant Owners

WHO:             Comptroller Peter Franchot 

WHAT:           Comptroller Franchot will visit Burtonsville this morning, beginning at Chapala Restaurant, where he will present a proclamation to General Manager Angel Arbaiza. In the past 20 years, the family-owned restaurant has become a well-known Burtonsville establishment serving high-quality Tex-Mex food.

Mr. Franchot then will present a proclamation to Maiwand Grill General Manager Farid Mohmand. Maiwand Grill has been a staple in the community for nearly 15 years, specializing in Afghani dishes, including Afghani grill kabobs and Afghan curries. Since opening in 2002, the family-owned business has catered more than 200 wedding receptions.

The Comptroller’s final stop will be at Cuba de Ayer Restaurant, where he will present a proclamation to owner Jessica Rodriguez. The family-run eatery serves authentic, homestyle Cuban cuisine. Cuba de Ayer is an ideal place to get a cup of Cuban coffee, a Cubano sandwich or tres leches cake.
