Tour Maryland Rye Whiskey Exhibit
Comptroller to Present Proclamation, See Distillery Artifacts

WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present a proclamation today to Nino Germano, owner of La Scala restaurant, for the local eatery’s 21 years of success in Little Italy. Germano moved from Sicily to Baltimore with his family at age nine. In 1995, he opened La Scala, a 13-table restaurant that grew and now has an indoor bocce court, two private dining rooms and a wine room.
Mr. Franchot then will tour the Maryland Rye Whiskey exhibit at Case Showroom & Gallery. The Maryland State Archives, in collaboration with Case LLC of Baltimore, are presenting the exhibit on the state’s rye whiskey industry that thrived for centuries until the early 20th century. The collection features interesting names, labels and bottles from the state’s distilleries.
