Peter Franchot to Become Fourth Comptroller in Maryland History to Serve Three Terms
– Gov. Larry J. Hogan Jr. to Administer Oath of Office –
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: Comptroller Franchot, Maryland’s 33rd Comptroller, will be sworn into his third term of office Monday morning, joining Louis L. Goldstein, J. Millard Tawes and William S. Gordy Jr., as the fourth Comptroller in state history to serve three terms. Gov. Larry J. Hogan Jr. will administer the oath of office.
Elected leaders and citizens from throughout the state taking part in the ceremony include:
Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates Michael E. Busch,welcoming remarks; Ocean City Mayor Richard Meehan, master of ceremonies; Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard, presentation of colors; Middleborough Elementary School student Elizabeth Southworth, Pledge of Allegiance; St. Michaels High School student Hannah Gill, National Anthem; Bishop John A. Cherry II, From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide, Suitland, invocation; Rabbi Ari Israel, executive director of Maryland Hillel, College Park, benediction; and St. Charles High School student Mya J. Perkins, benediction.
Additional speakers will include: state Sen. George C. Edwards, District 1, representing Allegany, Garrett and parts of Washington County; Del. Curt S. Anderson, District 43, representing Baltimore City; Baltimore County Council Chairwoman Vicki Almond and Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron S. Bateman.
