Hundreds call for justice over death of George Floyd

Hundreds of people across multiple cities protested Wednesday night in a call for justice over the death of George Floyd, a black man who suffocated when he was handcuffed and pinned to the ground by a Minneapolis police officer.

At least one person was fatally shot in the Minneapolis area of the protests, according to The Associated Press. Police were said to be investigating the death as a homicide and the suspect was in custody.

Minneapolis requested help from the National Guard to deal with the looting, rioting and protests, according to The Daily Beast.
