The Metropolitan Police said they arrested the third suspect in the Feb. 12 Southeast, D.C. barbershop shooting in which a father and his infant child were injured. Officers arrested Anthony Chambers, 25, on a D.C. Superior Court warrant on Feb. 25. Chambers is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, police said.

A father and his 21-month-old child were shot when three men opened fire inside of Wrennโ€™s Barbershop on 8th Street S.E., according to police reports. The father was struck in his lower body as he held his toddler in his arms who also suffered a gunshot wound, police reported.

Residents in the community are worried that danger is unavoidable. โ€œYou could be anywhere at anytime,โ€Amber Jones told the AFRO โ€œI could be shopping at Target and someone could start shooting.โ€

In addition, another daytime shooting left a 22-year-old man dead in the 3100 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast D.C. on Feb. 24, police said.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call for a shooting and found Demetrius Christopher Medlay suffering from gunfire wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots and then saw Medlay collapse near the Hong Kong Delite Carry Out, according to NBC Washington.

Lt. Sean Conboy, a spokesperson for the department, told the AFRO Feb. 28 that no arrests in the shooting have been made. โ€œThe case remains under investigation.โ€
