“The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd issued a tearful goodbye April 10 following her elimination from ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

Shepherd and dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy were placed in the bottom two at the end of the show with “Shake It Up” star Roshon Fegan and teammate Chelsie Hightower.

Following her tango routine, Shepherd earned 21 points out of 30. Judges explained that her performance needed to be sharper.

After her elimination was announced, Shepherd responded with tears, gratitude and thoughtful reflection.

“I just want to say thank you for letting me live a dream that I’ve always had, and I want to say I got the most amazing partner in Val Chmerkovskiy,” she said on the show. “And I want to say to every person out here that the thing that scares you the most, that makes you say, ‘I don’t know if I can do it; I’m scared,’ run towards it, because it’s so amazing on the other side.”

Shepherd and Chmerkovskiy appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” the following day and discussed the experience.

“It pushes you mentally and physically and it is a life-changing experience, I have to say,” Shepherd said, according to ABC. “I’m so grateful to God for the ride I got to take, the friendships I got to make, the people I get to keep in touch with.”

Shortly thereafter, Shepherd returned resumed her duties on “The View.” Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that “everyone was really shocked” when Shepherd, who was a fan-favorite, drew low scores.

Chmerkovskiy appeared by her side again on the daytime talk show and praised his former partner.

“I think she was very intimidating on the show, very beautiful…and too sexy for “Dancing With the Stars,” he said on the show, according to the Huffington Post. He added that he felt responsible in some ways for their elimination.

“She’s a huge star and I’m just a dancer. She was a visitor in my world,” he said.

Shepherd told People magazine that her 7 year-old son Jeffrey Tarpley Jr., who accompanied her during every competition is “pretty devastated.”

“He loved being there. He also doesn’t quite understand that they won’t be going back,” she said.

Returning next week to perform are Fegan, Gavin Degraw, Maria Menounos, Jaleel White, William Levy, Donald Driver, Katherine Jenkins, Knight and Melissa Gilbert.
