The Suitland, Md. community recently became a little healthier with the opening of a new Family Health and Wellness Center, part of Dimensions Healthcare System’s outpatient care network.

Dimensions Healthcare System executives, Prince George’s County, Md. officials, public health partners, community leaders and residents were all in attendance for the official ribbon-cutting on Jan. 16, though services at the center began three days earlier, on Jan. 13.

Another health center, the Greater Baden Medical Center, was once present in the same location at 5001 Silver Hill Road. However, that facility closed last spring to take their business to Capitol Heights, Md.

According to The (Montgomery County, Md.) Gazette, Prince George’s County government provided $500,000 to the start-up costs of the clinic, with Dimensions covering the remaining costs.

“It was a great event and we had a lot of people come out to support us,” Erika Murray, vice president of marketing and public relations for Dimensions said.

The new Family Health and Wellness Center will be the only primary healthcare center in Suitland, and will offer dental care, women’s health services and family medicine services.

The center launched Dimensions Healthcare System’s integrated primary care network in Prince George’s County, and is the first of several outpatient facilities planned by the company.
