Around this time of year, The Talker’s Magazine, one of the most important publications in the world of talk radio comes out with its “Heavy Hundred” ranking. It is a list of the “100 Most Important Talk Show Hosts in America,” according to the magazine.

Now for the 10th year in a row not only has Baltimore’s Larry Young, host of the venerable Larry Young Morning Show on WOLB made Talker’s Heavy Hundred, Young has once again cracked the top 50 talk radio personalities in America. Weighing in at number 42 this year, it’s the third year in a row that Young has made into the top 50 category.

“I am so very grateful to Talker’s Magazine for the recognition and Cathy Hughes and Urban One for giving me the opportunity to work for, by and with her and one of the best radio families in the nation,” Young told the AFRO.

According to the magazine, the rankings are compiled based on several criteria: effort, courage, impact, longevity, potential, recognition, service, talent and uniqueness.”

Since 1998, Young, a former state senator has hosted the Larry Young Morning Show. It airs on WOLB Talk 1010 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
