On June 12, the Pi Chapter of Tau Gamma Delta Sorority sponsored its Tauette Club’s 24th Annual Diamond Ball. The event was held at the Forum Caterers, 4210 Primrose Ave. The Tauette Club’s Diamond Ball features graduating seniors (Diamonds) in an evening of extravagance. It also introduces the Rosebuds or juniors, who will become Diamonds the following year. This year’s theme was: “Yes I Can, Yes I Can, Yes I Can.”

This year’s Diamonds, Kirsten Tucker, Maya McEachern, Erin Greene and Jasmin Dixon, will attend college in the fall and each received a scholarship from the sorority chapter. The Rosebuds are Jazzy Calhoun, Jasmine Jennings and Toni Hornes-Sullivan.

The Tauette Club is sponsored by Tau Gamma Delta Sorority. It is a nationally guided program for young girls enrolled in middle and high school desirous of participating in a structured program designed to prepare them to meet the challenges of society and the demands of the future.

The coordinator of the Diamond Ball was Doreen McKenzie, also a member of Pi Chapter. Tau Gamma Delta Sorority, Pi Chapter’s president is Clementine Toppins and the national president of Tau Gamma Delta Sorority is Clustie Ford, also a member of the Pi Chapter.
