The AFRO-American and Morgan State University announced a partnership on Aug. 11. Morgan State received a grant of $500,000 from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to help establish the Benjamin A. Quarles Humanities and Social Sciences Institute with Morgan’s College of Liberal Arts. The goal of the Institute is to raise awareness among undergraduate and graduate students of the peoples of the African Diaspora and how they intersect with the global community. Part of that will include scholars from the Institute using the archives of The AFRO-American to complete their research.
