I was sitting in Morgan View Apartments with my friends, gathered around and getting excited for the 55th Super Bowl, enjoying food and snacks. As the ball was being kicked off in Tampa Bay, Florida, everyone started yelling and talking loudly.
When a Bud Light commercial came on, there was confusion in the room.
Lemons were dropping from the sky.
“What if this is a Sprite commercial?” said Kenneth “KJ” Reid of Upper Marlboro. Some people started to agree with him, even myself. Turns out the segment was a Bud Light lemonade seltzer commercial. The whole mood changed in the room.
The game progressed to halftime and welcoming “The Weeknd” for the halftime show.
He started his performance and everyone in the room was just disgusted.
“He’s not even singing,” said KJ Reid.
Amaya Thomas of Pittsburgh said, “The super bowl halftime shows have gone downhill.”
“Out of all of the people they could’ve picked for the super bowl, why did they choose The Weeknd,” said Innaree Anthony of District Heights, Maryland. “I wanted to hear Lil Baby.”
