Shortly after Lebron James made headlines for premiering his slimmed down physique, Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is doing the same thing. Anthony has taken to Instagram to show off his own weight loss in preparation for the 2014-15 NBA season, and his transition to Phil Jackson’s triangle offense system.

On August 11, Anthony posted a photograph on the popular social media site, appearing significantly slimmer than in recent seasons. The picture is captioned in Spanish, stating it was taken after that day’s “great training session.”

According to the New York Post, new Knicks team president Phil Jackson views Anthony as more of a small forward rather than a power forward, the position former Knicks Coach Mike Woodson principally used Anthony during the last few seasons. The Post cites an unnamed source, identified as a confidant of Anthony’s, who indicated the seven-time all-star wants to get closer to the 230 pounds he played at as a rookie. The source continued, saying Anthony hopes the weight will increase his speed and bolster his effectiveness in the triangle offense system Jackson made famous with the Chicago Bulls in the ’90s and is bringing to New York as team president.

On Aug. 4, James posted a photograph of himself looking significantly thinner than at the end of the 2013-14 season. It was reported that both James and Anthony turned to a low-carb diet to shed pounds this off-season.
