The current fifth season of BET’s hit drama “The Game” will be the last for star Tia Mowry, the actress has confirmed.

Taking to Twitter on May 15, Mowry told fans she was leaving the popular show and moving on to other endeavors.

“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6,” she wrote. “It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun along the way.”

The former child actress starred along with her identical twin sister, Tamera, starred in the 1990s hit sitcom, “Sister Sister.” She said she was “looking forward” to upcoming projects including the May 15 release of her book, “Oh Baby,” season two of the “Tia & Tamera Show” on Style Network, which premieres in June, and an ABC Family movie airing in December.

“The Game,” a sports-driven drama with an all-Black cast originally aired on the CW from 2006 to 2009. After a two-year lag, fans cheered when BET revived the program, which has enjoyed ratings success on that network. Mowry played Melanie Barnett-Davis, a medical school graduate and wife of football star Derwin Davis, played by Pooch Hall.
