Politics and policing in Baltimore. Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts suggested after one of his officers was shot in the line of duty that perhaps people should march on behalf of officers injured while protecting the public, just as they march when a person dies at the hands of police. The comments drew praise from some and outrage from many. We’ll continue our ongoing discussion on policing and politics in our first hour.

Plus, in our second hour we’ll talk to playwright Kemp Powers about his production at Center Stage, “One Night in Miami,” a fictionalized account of a meeting in 1964 in a Miami hotel room with Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Jim Brown and Sam Cooke. All coming this evening on AFRO’s First Edition with Sean Yoes.
