“You can’t give me no playlist … this ain’t your wedding.”

That was the response from Trick Daddy in a video posted to social media and later reported by BIN News, after his performance was halted at a gathering of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

The Miami rapper had been booked to perform during Alpha Kappa Alpha’s South Atlantic Regional Conference, held March 26–29 in Orlando. The appearance followed a Step and Stroll competition and was part of the event’s entertainment lineup.

Organizers ended the performance before it concluded.

South Atlantic Regional Director Tiffany Moore Russell said expectations had been outlined in advance, including guidance on language, attire and song selection.

“We met several times with him and his team to detail our requirements, including attire, language and specific songs … . Our requirements were ignored,” Russell said in remarks carried by BIN News.

Videos circulating online appear to show Trick Daddy delivering explicit lyrics, engaging the crowd with profanity and using sexually suggestive banter. Attendee accounts shared publicly described the tone as inconsistent with a sorority-affiliated conference attended by members across generations.

“The language, the lyrics, and the comments made by the artist were not acceptable… [and showed] disrespect for our organization and for our brand,” Russell said in comments reported across several outlets.

A follow-up letter addressing the incident was described by attendees and referenced in media coverage as having been circulated by regional leadership. The communication reiterated expectations around professionalism and indicated concerns about adherence to event protocols. The full text of the letter has not been publicly released.

Trick Daddy disputed the expectation that he should have altered his performance.

“Ain’t no clean version … this is what I do,” he said in remarks reported by Vice.

While expressing respect for the sorority, he indicated in his response that he performed in line with his established style.

The incident has drawn discussion on social media, with some questioning whether expectations were clearly aligned prior to the booking and others supporting the decision to end the performance.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., founded in 1908, is the nation’s oldest Black Greek-letter sorority and is widely recognized for its emphasis on professionalism and public service.
