TUESDAY: Van Hollen Announces Bridge to be Dedicated to Fallen Hero from Bethesda
Washington, DC – Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen will deliver remarks on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at a bridge dedication ceremony. The bridge will be named after Bethesda native Alessandro (Alex) Carbonaro, a Marine Sergeant who died in 2006 while serving his second tour of duty in Iraq.
Congressman Van Hollen petitioned the Maryland Department of Transportation to dedicate the East-West Highway Bridge (MD 410) over the Georgetown Branch Trail/Purple Line right-of-way to Sergeant Carbonaro in honor of his service and sacrifice. At the dedication, a sign bearing Sergeant Carbonaro’s name will be unveiled and will then be installed on the bridge.
