The man, identified as Gerald Gardner, 33, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and later died at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Gardner’s death was the second homicide on Nov. 12.

Earlier in the day, Dashon Griffin, 26 was fatally shot on North Spring Street, also in East Baltimore.

Both homicides on Nov. 12 ended what had been six consecutive days without a murder in the city, one of the least violent periods in 2017, which has been on pace to eclipse the homicide record of 344 in 2015.  Prior to the two homicides on Nov. 12, the city’s most recent murder victim was Winfield Parker, 51, who died during a triple shooting in the 5400 block of Fairlawn Ave. in Northwest Baltimore.

Last weekend from Nov. 3 to Nov. 5, during the so-called, Ceasefire Weekend, the city registered one homicide, Tony Mason Jr., 40, an off-duty Washington, D.C. Metro police officer. Mason was killed during the early morning hours of Nov. 4, while he sat in a car in the 2800 block of Elgin Ave. in West Baltimore.

Baltimore Police are investigating all of the recent homicides, and urge anyone with information to call detectives at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup. You can also text tips to 443-902-4824.
