The University of District of Columbia (UDC) women’s basketball team picked up its third straight win after routing the Salem International Fighting Lady Tigers, 98-48, on Feb. 12 in Salem, W.Va.
The win marked the second straight game UDC has scored at least 97 points, this time with the bulk of the points coming from junior guard Jamilia Bonner, who finished with a season-high 24 points. Graduate student Niqky Hughes followed with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Other double-digit scorers for UDC include junior guards Kendra Johnson with 15 points and junior guard Brittany Clements with 12.
Salem International freshman guards Brittany Wells and Amber Few were the only double-digit scorers for their team with 18 points and 12 points respectively. Salem shot 32 percent (17 for 54 shots made) from the field as a whole.
UDC advanced to a 15-7 overall record, and will travel to Bowie, Md. on Feb. 16 to take on regional rival Bowie State University for the second time this season. UDC knocked off Bowie, 54-40, back on Dec. 8.
