College campuses are navigating a critical moment in engaging men around connection, care and responsibility. Many young men are experiencing growing isolation and disconnection from peers, community and support systems—conditions that can limit emotional and relational development and complicate efforts to build campus cultures rooted in prevention and accountability.
These dynamics raise important questions for campus professionals:
- What does meaningful engagement with college men look like in this moment?
- How can we create spaces where men feel seen and connected in ways that reduce isolation and risk?
- And, how do we move men from passive participants to active partners in preventing violence and strengthening campus communities?
Research highlights the urgency of these questions: 65 percent of young men ages 18–23 report that “no one really knows me,” and nearly 70 percent believe that “no one cares if men are okay.”
Addressing this gap requires engagement strategies that prioritize relationship-building, voice, and participation—not just awareness or compliance.
In this 90-minute free and interactive webinar, Futures Without Violence’s CATAPULT: Campus Action team will share a range of concrete strategies for engaging men as allies in violence prevention and campus well-being. Participants will be introduced to Unscripted, a national storytelling and dialogue campaign, as one example of how campuses can foster connection and invite reflection as part of a comprehensive engaging men approach.
Drawing on current research and campus-based practice, the session will explore how efforts like Unscripted can complement existing prevention work, activate student leadership, and support campus cultures grounded in care, respect, and accountability. Participants will leave with practical tools, examples, and considerations for adapting these strategies to their own campus contexts.
MCASA’s Virtual Campus Training Series is a 6-part webinar series, hosted every year from September to April. These training sessions are tailored to college and university staff, as well as community advocates and other service providers, who do sexual assault prevention and response work with college and university students. Facilitated by a combination of MCASA staff and national experts, these workshops explore important and trending topics impacting all student sexual assault survivors.
