The AFRO’s Celebration Gala will bring together and recognize the Founders, Leaders, and Supporters of The AFRO News, who share a demonstrated commitment to the achievements made by The AFRO News Publication in the last 130 Years.

Paying homage and tribute to The AFRO for being the oldest family-owned, continuously published Black newspaper in the country, the oldest Black-owned business (family or otherwise) in the State of MD, and the 3rd oldest (family-owned or otherwise) in the country. In 1892, The AFRO was established to speak on racial equality and economic advancement for Black Americans. Today, its proclamation to be a platform to offer images and stories of issues regarding the advancement of the Black community has not changed.
