About the Maryland Food Bank:
The Maryland Food Bank is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization, leading the movement to end hunger throughout Maryland. For more than 35 years, the Maryland Food Bank has partnered with communities across the state to distribute food to individuals and families in need. Through carefully crafted programs, the food bank aims to meet the immediate needs of Marylanders while simultaneously working to find long-term ways to reduce hunger statewide.
COVID-19 Response: The Maryland Food Bank supplies more than 1,200 distribution sites across the state with much-need food for their local communities. Currently, they are experiencing a 100% demand increase. The statewide network of community partners is distributing 23% more food despite fewer distribution points being operational. Over the first two weeks of April, the Maryland Food Bank distributed 2.2 million pounds of food. Since the week of March 16, the Maryland Food Bank distributed roughly 55,404 Grab & Go meals to kids in central Maryland.
