On  Sept. 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Ashbury United Methodist Church, 926 11th St NW will hold a showcase dedicated to J.C. Hayward, one of the longest-standing news anchors from the Washington metropolitan region. The Mass Choir of Mount Calvary Baptist Church from Rockville, Maryland; Howard Nicholson, teenage concert pianist ; and  Electa Geer, former  assistant professor of Speech and Drama at Spelman College will all be among many who will honor Hayward in celebration of her acquittal in recent legal proceedings.  Dr. E. Faye Williams, president and CEO of the National Congress of Black Women will also present Hayward with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. The event is free and open to the public.
