Baltimore Responses to Health Care Reform

William Stewart, Machinist “It hasn’t affect me, but I think it’s needed. everybody should be able to go to the doctor and get some type of treatment. Insurance rates have gone up, but everybody needs health care. I think it’s a good thing. I expected it to impact me – the middle class paying more for health care.”		Joyce Fields, Retired “I think it is kind of complicated for some of us, the older generation. We don’t really understand it as well as we should. It’s not been made really clear to us.”

Kelvin Dixon “If it is going to help the lower income people, I’m with it. But I don’t know too much about it. In certain situations, like helping to get medicines and stuff, I expected it to help me. If it’s going to benefit me and other brothers and sisters that are low income, then sure .”		Brenda Braxton, MTA “It hasn’t had any impact on me. I don’t know if I expected it to. I would have liked for it to lower the payments.”

But I think it’s great for the ones that really, really need it. With the economy being like it is, you need a break somewhere. It probably will help me as the years go by.”
