In keeping with a more than 10-year tradition, the Dillard University Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area Alumni Association hosted its annual Scholarship Jazz Brunch Nov.1.

Family, friends, and other supporters joined local alumna at the Washington Navy Yard Catering and Conference Center for food and fellowship.

“We are excited to not only continue a tenured tradition, but to have the opportunity to bring a little New Orleans flavor to the nation’s capital while raising money for our beloved university,” said Erica M. Williams, president of the association. Dillard University is located in New Orleans, La.

The event featured a brunch buffet, champagne mimosas, and a New Orleans Second Line complete with umbrellas and handkerchiefs.

Funds raised during the event will go to the Fannie N. Ridgeway Endowed Scholarship, which is given to the university’s upperclassmen who are residents of the D.C. Metropolitan Area.
