Bluewater Productions, creator of the comic book “Female Force: Michelle Obama,” is gearing up to release a follow up to that story entitled, “Michelle Obama: Year One.”
The comic, which was scheduled to be released on March 24, is written by Robert Schnakenberg and resumes Obama’s story from her husband’s presidential inauguration. Also covered in the book is her work to secure the 2016 Olympics for Chicago and her firm stand against childhood obesity.
“Even before the first issue on Michelle Obama, we realized we were following a dynamic, continuing portrait of history,” Darren G. Davis, president of Bluewater, said in a press release. “I foresee several more chapters as she creates her own agenda and makes her mark as a female force.”
According to Davis, the publisher sold out of its print run of the first Michelle Obama comic book a week before it hit store shelves. Davis assured that this time around, there will be plenty of copies printed of the new installment for fans to purchase.
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and talk show hosts Barbara Walters and Oprah Winfrey have also been featured in Bluewater’s “Female Force” series.
Nickelodeon, the kids’ television network, also acknowledged the first lady’s battle against childhood obesity. She will be honored at the network’s annual Kids’ Choice Awards, airing on March 27.
