The world rejoiced when South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi won Miss Universe in early December, but with the crowning of Toni-Ann Singh from St. Thomas, Jamaica for Miss World, the glass ceiling shattered. As if 2019 hasn’t already been an incredible year for African Americans across the board, as they advance in entertainment, business and technology; for the first time, women of color have won the top five beauty pageants. Each woman shares an inspiring message of self-love and empowerment as they continue to make their mark on the world and in the hearts of their fans.
