Speak at Morgan State University Winter Commencement
Friday December 15, 2017 – 9:30 am
Senator Van Hollen will address the Winter 2017 graduating class of Morgan State University and will join Senator Ben Cardin to present their Senate Resolution honoring Morgan State’s 150th anniversary. Morgan State University, Maryland’s largest historically black college, educates over 7,000 students annually. The University awards more bachelor’s degrees to African-American students than any campus in Maryland. In many fields, and particularly in engineering and the sciences, the University accounts for large percentages of degrees received by African-Americans from Maryland institutions. Historically, the University has ranked among the top public campuses nationally in the number of black graduates receiving doctorates. In addition to Senators Van Hollen and Cardin, Lt. Governor Boyd K. Rutherford will also make remarks.
