While attending Prairie View A&M University, Wright Jr. became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In honor of their brotherhood, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mu Lambda, Omicron Lambda Alpha and Omicron Eta Lambda Chapter opened the ceremony with hymns and prayers.
