LL Cool J has caught bad guys in movies such as “S.W.A.T.” and television shows like “NCIS: Los Angeles,” but he had to do it in real life when he subdued a man attempting to burglarize his home on Aug. 22.
According to TMZ, the suspect entered the home of the 42-year-old LL Cool J, whose real name is Todd Smith, at 2 a.m. The suspect triggered the home’s alarm system, alerting the multi-platinum selling rapper. That’s when LL Cool J confronted the man, who left the rapper’s home in police custody, worse for wear than when he arrived.
“LL Cool J, and his family, are safe and thank everyone for their thoughts and concern,” a spokesman said in a statement to The New York Daily News. “As a father, husband and citizen, he is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities on this private matter.”
According to TMZ, the man left LL Cool J’s home with a broken nose and jaw. LL Cool J, who works out with a personal trainer, told Men’s Health Magazine in 2006 that he sometimes incorporates boxing training routines as part of his workout.
The would-be burglar’s name has not been released, but according to reports was charged today and could face 38 years.
