Comptroller Franchot to Present Schaefer Award in Wicomico County

WHAT:          Comptroller Franchot will present the 2016 William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award for Wicomico County on Tuesday to Minister G. Mandel Copeland, the chief musician and music director for the United Faith Church of Deliverance in Salisbury.

Mr. Copeland also is a founder of #50KSouls Inc., a nonprofit outreach ministry involving several churches with volunteers/partners and team members locally and throughout Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Indiana, Connecticut and Chicago who empower communities to help the poor, the homeless and the hungry with food, shelter and encouragement. Through the organization’s D.R.I.V.E. By – Deliverance, Restoration, Inspiration, Victory and Encouragement By Sharing the Love of Christ program — teams in their respective states and cities randomly select homes in disenfranchised neighborhoods and deliver food packages and encouragement. More than 550 families have been recipients of the D.R.I.V.E. By initiative.
