Comptroller to Visit Olney Farmers & Artists Market

WHAT:          Comptroller Peter Franchot will head to this weekend’s Olney Farmers & Artists Market to take in the fresh-picked vegetables and summertime fruits and will check out the artists’ works featured throughout the marketplace. The market is the brainchild of local resident Janet Terry and has grown since its creation in 2007. Each week, the market features different chefs and activities. This week, there will be a pie bake-off. The judges include Falcon Ridge’s Stanton Grill, Dangerously Delicious Pies Rodney Henry, Eat a Little Something’s Freedy Turim and WUSA9’s reporter and anchor Debra Alfarone.  After the contest, slices of pie will be available for sale. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Olney Farmers and Artists Market.
